Company History

Envisioned in 1993 by Craig Madans, this unique marketing concept has proven its worth by providing benefits to homeowners and contractors. "Helping people overcome the problems of owning a home renders a positive result for everyone. We help make the connection between homeowners and carefully selected, quality craftsmen, which saves money and time," Craig Madans reports.

The first HOCOA office was started in Charlotte, North Carolina in March of 1993. By 2000, HOCOA of Charlotte had over 25,000 members. Each HOCOA office is owned and operated locally as a franchise.

Madans thought of the idea to start a home repair network when he was trying to renovate his home and couldn't get anyone to show up or do the job right. "HOCOA takes the worry out of home repair which saves the homeowner the headaches and the time it takes to really find good contractors," says Madans. HOCOA now has franchises as far west as Oklahoma, north as Connecticut and South as Florida.

Craig continues to supervise, market and direct the company's operation. Prior to HOCOA, Craig worked at the executive level of several textile companies. He is involved in civic organizations and local government.
He enjoys singing in choirs, acting and golfing. Craig lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Dorothy, and children, Alex, Carolyn and Marshall. He is a graduate from North Carolina State University.

Dorothy Madans
Communications
Manager
Dorothy develops the HOCOA software, advertising & website design. She
previously worked
in management of
Product Design &
Development in the automotive, home, apparel & Christmas industries. Dorothy has a Bachelor's from East Carolina University.

Geena Nordan
Administrative Assistant
Geena works with the local Charlotte HOCOA office
running the day to day operations
working with the
contractors and
homeowners. She is a graduate from Converse College in SC. Geena's husband is a contractor with HOCOA.

Camille Judge
Marketing
Camille works on building new marketing progtrams for the Franchise owners. Her background is in Music & Pharmaceutical Sales. Camille has a Bachelor’s from Northern Kentucky and a Masters degree from University of Colorado at Boulder.

Steve Vacendak
Franchise Sales
Consultant
A star athlete, he brings to HOCOA the solid, results-oriented experience of a sports management career. Vacendak has worked as Athletic Director for several colleges and was also in marketing sports-affiliated products. He is a graduate of Duke University in Marketing.
